Sam has made quite a ritual out of "shaving". He loves watching Shannon in the a.m.'s. He is so sweet getting out his faux razor and Scoobie-Doo shave foam. This particular night he said he wanted to shave before he took his bath because daddy shaves before his shower. I thought it was a classic Kodak moment!!!

Meeting Sydney McCloskey Able
Patrick Able, Shannon's best friend from growing up came in town from New Orleans with his wife, Shannon and their new sweet baby girl, Sydney. Sydney was born in October but hasn't come to visit Columbia friends and family until now. We were so glad to finally meet her. She is so precious. Sam and Fulton loved seeing "Uncle Patrick". Patrick is Sam's God-Father and I can't help but think that he and Sam have a kindred connection. He goes crazy when Patrick visits! He always comes bearing gifts and this time he brought weapons of mass destruction. Poor Fulton has now become the victim of Sam's warfare. Fulton and Sam have had a great time playing with their surcies from Patrick and Shannon and really enjoyed their visit.
We truly miss Patrick and wish we could see him more frequently. His wife is adorable and we wish we could get to know her better. We are hoping to go visit them in the Spring!
Best Wishes to Patrick and Shannon and their precious little Sydney! It was great meeting her!!!

Kanuga Weekend
It should be a sin to have so much fun on a church retreat weekend! Shannon and I were fortunate enough to be able to join St. John's on their annual retreat to Kanuga in Hendersonville, NC. We have never been able to go because we've always had a napping child. This year we knew Fulton would be fine if he missed his nap...but he actually did take one b/c he was so worn out from all the fun.
We arrived on Friday evening just before dinner. The boys were so cranky from the drive that they were ready to crash earlier than usual. So we stayed in with our housemates, Jackie and Michael Barker. They were the perfect housemates b/c their boys are the same ages as ours and on similar schedules.
Saturday, after breakfast we went to listen to our guest speaker while the boys did activities with their age-groups. It was a beautiful day! So Shannon took Sam around the camp to play and run around with some other children while I read magazines and relaxed during Fulton's nap! It was so nice!!!! Later in the day after naps, we went down to a big field to play in a family kickball game. Shannon and Fulton participated while Sam played in the dirt with some of his buddies.
After dinner we bathed the boys in the antique claw foot tub. They thought it was a super cool bathtub! When then headed over to the ice cream social and song fest! It was a jam packed day of activities and fun!!!
We took the boys back to the cabin and put them down for bed. Fortunately, all the cabins are so close that lots of people were hopping to and from with baby monitors in hand. It was really fun visiting with our neighbors and getting to know them better.
On Sunday we went to breakfast and then attended church in a beautiful chapel at the camp. Soon after we loaded up the car and headed back to Cola.
The weekend was a much needed wonderful experience for our family. The boys loved being in the mountains. I think little Sam was able to come out of his shell and get to know some of his church buddies better. We look forward to next year!
Unfortunately, Shannon didn't take the camera with him to take pics of the camp while they were strolling around. And Sunday was rainy and foggy. But they have a great website should you want to see!

From What's Bakin'?
Sam and Fulton enjoyed a visit from the Valentine's Day Chicken! They each got a basket filled with some sweet treats, a Valentine's book, cards, and a flute. They each had fun and yummy parties at school too! Then Muzzy brought them Red Velvet cupcakes that afternoon!!! Yikes! I think it is safe to say that they were both close to being in a diabetic coma just before dinner!!!

The 5 Minute Monster Truck Show
Fu checking out the pre-show festivities
Sam getting ready for the show
Sam getting ready for the show
Sam and Fulton have a sick obsession with Monster Trucks. Therefore, Shannon and Sam have been to the MT Show for the past 4 years. This was Fulton's first time and he was SOOOO excited. Shannon and Jimmy took all the boys and were anticipating a great time. UNTIL...
The engines started revving and and backfiring! Poor little Sam could take the noise for very long and started crying b/c it hurt his ears. With plugs and headphones it was still too much. If you read last year's MT Show post the same thing happened but he was able to stay inside the suite and duke it out. And just like last year...we took Sam to the Dr. on Monday and he had an ear infection AGAIN!!!! What are the chances...seriously. Poor Shannon didn't want to leave early b/c Fu was having such a great time. So he called me on my way home from Charlotte to see how far way I was so I could come get Sam while he stayed w/ Fu. BUUUT I was still an hour away and he said Sam wouldn't last. Poor little guys... it was a no win situation. I think next year we'll take Sam to the Dr. prior to the MT Show. And I felt so bad for Fu too! Bless their hearts!!!!!
