It's ok! I've got rocks!

Y'all know most of my Fulton tales, as I have posted many over the years. Here's another one.

In a convo with him he was telling me all about some Pokemon card launcher thing. I acted interested, but truly had no clue what he was talking about. He went on to say that he wants me to buy him one.

I told him I thought he should earn some money to buy it. His response...

No! It's ok! I have rocks!

Me: Rocks?

Fulton: Uh huh. Lots of nice ones.

Me: (clueless) Well what are you gonna do with the rocks? Can you use them with the launcher?

Fulton: No! I can spend 'em.

Me: Spend 'em? You can't spend rocks, honey.

Fulton: Uh huh! Sam said people used to spend rocks a long time ago instead of money! I can just use those.

Me: Aww! Hun, you have to use money now. That would be awesome if we could use rocks though.

He left the room to quiz Sam on why he'd tell him he could use rocks to buy stuff. I tuned out their exchange as I chuckled to myself in the kitchen, seriously wishing I could use rocks as money. Since I have 3 boys, I think we'd be considered really, really rich and every time I did S & F's laundry...it'd be payday!

How cool would that be?!?!

I love these little conversations. They are precious and hilarious all rolled into one! These are the moments I want to freeze and keep forever.

Well, we are all back under one roof. Sam is home from camp. Happy as a clam. Lice and tick free! Praise God! (Remember last year's post?) I scrubbed his hair really well before I let him sit down on the sofa just to be sure! ;)

Happy Friday, y'all!
I wonder if I pay my sitter in rocks tomorrow night if she'd be offended? Or maybe I could bring back the rock bartering system.
Hmmmm?

Lemonade stands are for sissies!

Well, the summer is short, but the days are oh-so-long! The pool has now been "over-used" according to Sam. The beach was already visited for 10 days. Away camp for Sam isn't for another 14 days, same as Fulton's day camp. And Oliver, well, poor Oliver is gettin' the shaft this year because the money tree I planted a while back never sprouted. Maybe next year. {Unless his nice grandparents, who probably won't even read this, want to spring for a baby camp for the Ver.} Actually, IMPO, I think the whole "what camps are your boys doing?" has gotten a smidge out of hand. But that's another post!

Any who... Since school got out a little over a month ago, I've been mustering up all kinds of things for these little fellas to do. So what does every mom suffering from an all-time creative low do? She puts them in charge of their entertainment. All I asked was, "ok guys, what do y'all want to do today?" And the answer is exactly what most boys would say...

"LET'S SET UP A TATTOO PARLOR! You know, like a lemonade stand, but with tattoos!"

{This obsession with tattoos goes way back. Seems like we're forever putting tattoos on! See here here here and here}

So I checked my inventory of tattoos. We were good on Lightning McQueen, Batman, and random skulls. But what ever would we do if a little girl stopped by to make a purchase? Crisis!

They wanted to dress in the most appropriate attire, of course - of which we own none - and that lead to the slashing and cutting of old t-shirts to make muscle shirts. I even allowed them to embellish deface them further with skulls, flames, yin-yang symbols, spiders, yin-yang/spider combos, etc, etc. At which point I became the COOLEST mom on the planet!

We made a trip to the dollar store for a few supplies and spent a whopping $3 on some tattoos with roses, fairies, and swirls, some poster paper for a sign, and we were ready for business! They creatively named their business... TATTOO YOU.

And what business would be complete with out some nice relaxing tunes the local classic rock station balring in the background?
And so you have it. It's what we do here in the Acres for hot fun in the summertime!
We are so thankful for all our customers. They made our vision a reality!
If you missed it, don't fret! TATTOO YOU will be open again real soon.

Fulton's 6th Birthday Weekend (1 of 2)

Six?
This tiny little person?

How can it be? That's a big kid age! When a "T" no longer follows their clothing size it means they're getting really BIG. Going from 5 to 6 bridges the gap between little boy and school-aged-big-boy. Even though he's only in 5K (because of the whole Sept. 1 cut off thing), SIX just seems so old!

Fulton's birthday was greatly celebrated again this year with lots of fanfare. On Friday morning (his actual birthday) we attended his celebration of life (COL) at school. I can't remember if I've ever posted on this but the COL is a very sweet, personal way to recognize a child on his birthday in the Montessori environment. It's a very peaceful ritual in which the students learn the significance of the child's existence to his family and friends. They also develop a deeper appreciation for that person as they hear important details of the child's life at different stages. It's a wonderful way to focus on your child's special day.

After soccer practice, we let Fu pick where he wanted to eat dinner. He chose Hooligan's, a great landmark in our neighborhood! We serenaded him with Happy Birthday and his cookie dough ice cream cone. He hurriedly ate it, as he couldn't wait to get home to open his presents from us.
Make a wish buddy!
The triplets
(Side Story: I really had someone ask me if they were triplets once. Ummm, yes sir...kinda like the 3 bears...one was too big, one too small, and one was JUUUUUST right!)
SO excited!
He's been dyin' for Just Dance 2!
Huh? Why do I need a Karaoke CD?
It's a KARAOKE MACHINE!!!

Needles to say, we had a singing and dancin' party all.night.long! Good gravy!!!

Saturday, it was GAME DAY here in Gamecock Country. We were playing Georgia away. We invited some friends over to watch the game and let the kids play. The Gibsons are huge UGA fans. The problem with that is their youngest son is Fu's BFF. SOOOOO they think it's really cute that their child has converted Fulton to a BULL DAWG!!! He even asked to borrow one of their jerseys for the game. I thought we would cry. Unfortunately, all I got was a few crummy cell phone pics because I couldn't locate my camera for a while. But regardless of their choice of team, the boys looked precious playing ball in the yard in their jerseys and the parents had a great time! The McMillans also came and served as a neutral party and their precious girls were troopers hangin' with the boys all night. We finished the night off with a little Just Dance 2 dance-off!

(NOTE: You can pause the music on the player at the bottom of the blog so it doesn't compete with the video)
My favorite part of the video clip below is what Wright says about Fulton and Fulton's response! Hilarious! I love those boys! I wish you could see precious Caroline in the far right of the screen...Girl's got some moves!!! (She's actually in my video but I shot mine side-ways...nice! So I had to use Shannon's version.)

Everyone was at meltdown status and the fun ended, but we needed to rest up anyway for Fulton's birthday party on Sunday!!

Part 2 of 2 to follow

Happiness is...

looking in the rear-view mirror and seeing THIS face singing as many lyrics as he knows of Half of My Heart by John Mayer.

This little boy's momma is a HUGE John Mayer fan. So it doesn't surprise me that he isn't afraid to belt out one of his little diddies.

A while ago, when I heard this song for the first time it was it's catchy melody that caught me. It's sorta addictive... like this little face.

LOVE.

Potty Talk with Fulton

I am telling you! Fulton Baker needs to be a talk show host or something. But it would have to be held in a bathroom. That is where we have some of our best conversations...while he sits on the toilet, pondering life's big questions. He can strike up great conversations and keep them going with all kinds of twists and turns. He'd keep the attention of a studio audience any day!!! Tonight, as I sat on the side of the tub waiting for him to be "finished", he started chattin' it up with me as usual.

Here's the script:

Fulton: Mommy, do you have any stories about that man they call "The King"?

Me: You mean Jesus? Sure! We have lots of stories about Him.

(Some people would have thought Elvis. But I didn't...weird. Any who...)

Fulton: No! "The King" that changed the world a long time ago!!!

Me: Yeah, Jesus. Sometimes He is called The King.

Fulton: No! It was a king.

Me: Oh! King Herod? The wise men/The 3 Kings?

Fulton: Huh, The 3 Kings?

Me: Yeah like the 12th night celebration/3 Kings Day/The Epiphany...You know how we wait after Christmas for 12 days for the wise men to get to baby Jesus.

(Now we're both totally confused)

Fulton: No! You know! The King who changed the world and got shot.

Me: OOOOOOH!!!!!!! Martin Luther King, Jr. I don't have any stories about him but I can tell you what I know about him.

Fulton: Yeah! That's who I'm talking about.

Me: He was a very important person. He was not a king but his last name was King. He wanted everyone to be treated the same, regardless of how they look or where they come from. We can talk more about him when you get in bed.
Now, are you ready to get off the potty?

Fulton: No. I'm waiting on the Epiphany.

(Wait. WHAT?????)

I just left the bathroom laughing hysterically and said "Ok! Tell me when it's the Epiphany." Any who...look for him on TV station in your area...someday.

Fulton goes to Big Boy School

Our sweet, kookie, big-little boy headed off to school today. I can't believe it's here! He seems way too little to be going to school from 7:30-2:30. It's such a long day! I said it when Sam went to school and my thoughts haven't changed...The time has gone so quickly. I wish I could stop it!!!

He did great this morning though. He was happy to be walking to school with big bro, Sam.

But I will so miss my fun afternoons with Fu-bird (MM2). We always had some play time with Oliver before his nap and then Fulton and I would get some time together. I really looked forward to it. Oliver and I will really miss his company and funny stories about his day.

This was a very hard drop off for me for some reason. I guess because Sam didn't start all-day school until 5k. Fulton's going a year earlier. UUHHG! He's so little and I'm going to miss the preschool that I've known for 6 years!!!

I have so many hopes for my little Fu.

I hope he will make great buddies, like the ones at KP. Thankfully, his best buddy Wright will be in his class and I think Fulton would be happy if that was the only kid in there. He LOVES Wright!

I hope he takes advantage of rest time. He's going to need it!

I hope he learns oh so much. He's my little sponge and really enjoys learning!

I hope I have spent enough time with him being my middle-man. It's kinda hard sometimes to balance it all. I want him to feel like he got plenty of mommy time before I sent him off to big-boy school. Hello Mom guilt!

I hope he loves it and is as happy as he looked when we dropped him off.

I, on the other hand, probably didn't look so happy at drop off. I think I sobbed for an hour afterwards. I kept reminiscing about all the fun things we did together while Sam was at school and I was pregnant with Oliver and it was just the two of us. I thought about leaving the tiny sweet Jesus-Bubble preschool and going into a BIG classroom with lots of new rules and faces. Am I doing the right thing?

At this point it's in God's hands! I know He is holding Fulton in His palm and that everything will be just fine!!! Right?

Just when you thought the picture of my rear-end was funny...read what Fu wrote.
Well, all I have to say is ya gotta love yourself first, right!
If you ahven't had a chance to join Fultonisms...please do. It's hilarious!

The Valentine's Chicken made his annual pit stop at Casa de Baker! Sam, Fu, and Ollie awoke to goodie bags, books, and brownies!! Then daddy went on a DD run for munchkins and donuts!!!

The boys were out of school on Monday so we took advantage of the extra night and went BOWLING. They had a ball (no pun intended)!!! Sam was whippin' me at one point. Ollie went too and hung out in the stroller cheering us on. We went out for pizza afterwards to top off a fun night.
Valentine's couldn't have been any sweeter with my precious little peeps. We are truly blessed to have each other. I know Valentine's Day is a pretty bogus holiday to most people but I love to celebrate and show each one of my boys how much they are loved with some extra special treats, hugs, and kisses!
